Rumbo a la Fase II del LAHN: Recibimos la visita del experto en Reflectometría de Neutrones

Entre el 11 y el 27 de Agosto nos visitó el Dr. Michael Fitzsimmons, del Laboratorio Nacional de Oak Ridge y líder del Grupo de Nanociencia en la Universidad de Tennessee. El Dr. Fitzsimmons brindó dos cursos de posgrado intensivos sobre reflectometría de rayos X y neutrones, con especial énfasis en sistemas magnéticos nanoestructurados. También brindó sendos seminarios sobre temáticas de suma actualidad en los Centros Atómicos Bariloche y Constituyentes. El equipo LAHN tuvo la oportunidad de discutir con él aspectos instrumentales y detalles técnicos, en virtud de la amplia experiencia del Dr. Fitzsimmons en la construcción de instrumentos y entornos de muestra para reflectometría. La visita del Dr. Fitzsimmons se enmarcó en el Programa Maldacena de Profesores Invitados del Instituto Balseiro, con el apoyo del Proyecto LAHN y del Instituto de Nanociencia y Nanotecnología INN.

El LAHN fue presentado en una conferencia plenaria en el VI Encuentro de Jóvenes Investigadores en Ciencia y Tecnología de Materiales realizado en instalaciones del INTI, el viernes 18 de Agosto.

Además, ya están en el sitio los tanques de decaimiento (correspondiente al sistema de refrigeración de piletas) y los tanques del sistema de resinas. Ambos serán ubicados en la losa de –6.00 m del edificio. 


IUPAC 2017 Premia a la Prof. Yvonne Mascarehnas

En el pasado Congreso de la IUPAC realizado en São Paulo, Brasil, la Profesora Yvonne Mascarenhas recibió el IUPAC-2017 Distinguished Women in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Award. Job offer Postdoc (m/f), second instrument responsible at MLZ

We  are  looking  for  a  Scientist (m/f) (Postdoc (m/f), second instrument responsible)  who  will  contribute to our in-house research programme and will  actively  take  part in user support at the TOF neutron reflectometer REFSANS. Your research will be on corrosion and electrodeposition of metals at  the  solid-liquid  interface, which is conducted in close collaboration with  the  Magnesium Innovation Centre MagIC of HZG in Geesthacht. The main experimental method will be neutron reflectometry.

Close cooperations with scientists at the MLZ in Garching and MagIC in Geesthacht are expected, international collaborations are highly encouraged.
